I know what you’re thinking. I know that it wasn’t as bad as I made it sound in the title. Although band camp wasn’t as fun as last year (most of the drumming was more work than fun unlike before) I still had a great time.
I know now not to be too excited for band camp because last Sunday, I was unaware of the excruciating pain fun that I’d be having all throughout the week (pretty sure Neil had it worse than I did). Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t that bad. I was looking forward to the evening events more than usual.
Sunday. Mostly consists of spending early mornings at Church & dozing off in the afternoon. But on this Sunday, I woke up packed & ready for an unforgettable experience. It was hard loading the trucks. I was with Jared, Neil, Lumster & unfortunately, Henry Zhang.
I didn’t have anything against him before (I always wondered why Neil always called him gay) but it wasn’t until I found taking shit outta my bag & messing around with my toiletries. I don’t like him now.
Later that afternoon, my father brought me rations of El Pollo Loco. I then gave the rest of my spare rations to Neil while waiting out in the hot sun. Our bags out on the blacktop. Everyone, sitting, waiting, wishing just of what to make out of the coming events. It was kinda like how Elie Wiesel described the waiting process of the Jews in the streets of the ghetto, just sitting with their bags out in the blazing sun, off to be taken away to camp.
Bus ride. Really boring. I forgot to pack headphones so I was bored & Alex had to read this book, Sense and Sensibilities, so I was left out in isolation. Thinking quickly, I whipped out my iPhone & just blasted The Format, NeverShoutNever!, & Milk:Blood, just lip-synching the lyrics. It wasn’t until when Sabrina started humming “Stand By Me” that I bursted out in song & had the majority of the bus clapping & singing the melody.
We arrived. It was hot. Mr. Landes later confirmed at the fire pit that the rest of the weather would be hot. Oh joy. Alex & I headed out to our cabin, number 58, which was where I made some super cool friends. Steven Marrero & Kevin Dimzon were just the coolest seniors I’ve ever had (sans the fact that this is only my second band camp). They’re really chill, funny too :] I also had a cool chaperone, Mr. Alcanthara (excuse the spelling if wrong) who just so happened to be our drum major’s dad & Filipino like me :D
During the evening, A, O, & World battery had out evening workout. It wasn’t too bad. I also got to learn some of everybody’s musical tastes & weird talents.
Game night = fun. ‘Nuff said. Not much to say to, except that we cheated at the water cup game ‘cause we were all wet & we had to play it a second time because we skipped a station.
So there ya have it. A rough-cut summary of day uno. Kudos to reading.
Yesterday was a good day. My mom had her birthday at Disneyland (apparently only August birthdays get all the super cool stuff, no other month T-T) & it was great. I actually got to spend time with my brother, which I didn’t look forward to at first but turned out to be great.
We went on Space Mountain twice (just my bro & I), watched the Aladdin Musical Spectacular (that’s what I call it), & went on Pirates, & a whole lot more.
What really made my day (& ruined most peoples’) was the epic Disney fail.
What was the epic Disney fail?
You know the show Fantasmic, right? Well in the Summer Nightastic, the crew “improved” some things & added more pyrotechnics to the show…WELL, the part where Pinocchio comes up & dance…HE GOT STUCK. Crew members went on stage to try to get Pinocchio out of a jam (literally) while dancers & fireworks shot off stage.
They couldn’t. So they turned on the lights & aborted the show…while the water kept spraying, the music kept playing, & the fireworks were going off like crazy…10 minutes later, when the show should have ended, the white ship sailed across the lake (sans the Disney characters)…WOW!
I guess I just can’t sleep early. Especially with band camp drawing nearer & school is around the corner, I’d be fucked if I can’t alter my sleeping schedule. I guess I just have to train myself NOT to sleep at 6 o’clock in the morning.
I tried sleeping at 12AM today cause I was really tired. I had a horrible dream. I read somewhere that sleeping on the left side of your body would do something to the right side of your brain, which is where most of your imaginative thinking happens.
In my dream, I was on a pirate ship. Since I was the youngest of the whole entire crew, I was forced to swab the deck & do all those chores that no one else on deck would do. Anyways, we were headed straight on a collision-course with a Maelstrom. If you didn’t know, that’s a fucking whirlpool. I could feel myself tossing & turning but I just couldn’t wake up. The boat was spinning uncontrollably & I could feel it in the real world too.
It was fucking horrible. Once overboard, my body met the water & as I was drowning, in all the little air bubbles I could see all the happy memories float up to the surface. Until I finally ran out of breath, forgetting all those memories as I breathed them out, I was haunted by the bad ones stuck in my head. It was horrible.
